Well Hello Everyone! My name is Heather. I am a junior at Shippensburg this year.
I have not done a blog in a long time, so here it goes!
I would say I am a reader. I do not read every day, but when I have a chance to I do pick up a book and try and jump in. I really enjoy reading though and I just wish I had more time to read. I like reading because it lets you experience a different story and leave the stresses in your life for just a little. I have a great imagination and can clearly see the characters/setting in my mine when I am reading.I began reading when I was in grade school. I used to read 30 minutes a day for "family reading time." When I was that young I just read because we were required in school to do so.I mainly read mystery and comedy/funny books. Like Nancy Drew or Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. I liked the fairy tale ends of books or a good love story.I was a little bit intimated by some of the literature in high school because I was not familiar with it. We had read books like Of Mice and Men, The Scarlet Letter, The Tale of Two Cities, and The Great Gatsby, ETC. I am a motivated reader because I want to finish a book when I start reading it. Also, I want to be a successful student and I believe by doing every assignment you will learn as much as you can and achieve the grade you deserve. I want to convey to them that stories are experiences that people choose to share with the world for a reason. It can help give them insight into the purpose of life or it can mock life itself as well. I want my students to feel/experience other things in a world and reading literature is one way to experience that.
I would definitely agree with what you said about a book enabling one to escape from the stresses of life. If only for a little bit, books take away real life problems and replace them with fantastically made-up worlds. They are lovely :D
ReplyDeleteI loved the Mary-Kate and Ashley books too! I also love that your family had family reading time. I think that could be a good thing so that you got reading in all the time.
