Finished!

Our group teach is finally here. I am nervous, but excited at the same time. I would say I am nervous because we have worked so hard on our unit and I would be upset if it "flopped". We had our last meeting Monday in the Fishbowl to discuss who was bringing what to our presentation.

So what have I learned? You can trust your group members. I did not feel nervous for once about getting everything finished. Everyone completed tasks and attended meetings. There were times each of us felt as though we were not doing anything because the work was split up pretty evenly. I found making a rubric essential to understanding what it is that, we as teachers, wish for our students to grasp.

When we started this project this how our ideas were. We had many, but did not have a direction. We were able to focus our ideas down to single lessons and move from there.

Our ideas came together after many hours of planning and created our work of art------The Identity Unit!

I hope everyone enjoys our lesson. We can now appreciate the hard work each of us has done.

  1. Heather - great job last night! I liked that you and your group members participated in some activities and discussions with us and that you each sat down with us as we had small group discussions because that helped to focus our discussions. I can definitely appreciate all the hard work that went into planning your group's activities! I liked going from activity to activity - it kept me engaged.

  2. Thank you so much for your feedback Anne. I will take all of it to heart. It makes me feel proud that everyone was so engaged in our activities. I believe even as the teacher, I was engaged! I believe this experience will help be more prepared to handle the unexpected. I know classroom management is one thing new teachers struggle with. I can't wait for your lesson! I hope you learned something from our lesson about identity, but also about the methods we used. We believe each group can learn from our mistakes just as effectively as we did. Have a good break Anne!
